The Manhattan Project was the most massive, super-secret project of World War II. Headed by General Leslie R. Groves and many of the world's most-notable scientists, well over a hundred thousand American workers labored under difficult and primitive conditions to produce the impossible: the world's first atomic bomb.

Their determined efforts not only ended World War II, they also launched countless scientific advances in the succeeding years. With the approach of the 75th anniversary of the end of Word War II (in the year 2020,) mankind also approaches another amazing milestone: the 75th year without another major world war!
